Scaramucci Predicts Trump 'Trounced' in Midterms

By Fatma Younis

Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci predicted on Monday that President Donald Trump and Republican candidates will suffer a heavy defeat in Tuesday's midterm elections, comparing the vote to a "customer relations survey" in which voters express dissatisfaction with unfulfilled campaign promises.

Scaramucci's Assessment

Appearing on CNBC's Squawk Box Europe, Scaramucci, who served 11 days in Trump's first administration, said the president knows he will be "trounced." He cited broken promises on affordability, ending "forever wars," and transparency on the Epstein files, noting that even some MAGA supporters are breaking away.

Midterm Stakes and Polling

Pre-election polling indicated Democrats could regain control of the House of Representatives and possibly the Senate amid widespread voter unhappiness over the Iran war and the high cost of living. A Democratic takeover of one or both chambers could stall Trump's agenda for his final two years in office.

Trump's Closing Argument

Trump spent the campaign's final month touring red states and holding rallies, but on Monday he focused on the renovation of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool rather than delivering a closing message to undecided voters.

GOP Future and Iran Conflict

Scaramucci forecast a "great intellectual civil war" within the Republican Party if Democrats win, forcing the GOP to reconcile its post-Trump identity. He also warned that escalating U.S. airstrikes on Iran, including strikes on Qeshm Island, are bad for business and the stock market, and saw no immediate path to a negotiated settlement involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
