The US midterm elections could trigger a wave of subpoenas targeting Donald Trump if Democrats gain control of Congress. Democratic leaders have signaled plans to use congressional oversight powers to investigate the former president's business dealings, tax returns, and role in the January 6 Capitol attack.
Committee chairs would have authority to issue subpoenas for documents and testimony, potentially creating a "subpoena siege" for Trump. The outcome hinges on whether Democrats can flip the House or Senate in the November elections.
