The Conservative Party has reached its highest level of support since the 2024 general election, trailing Labour by just two points, according to a new YouGov poll for The Times published Tuesday.
Conservative Support Rises to 24%
The poll puts the Tories at 24%, a 2-point increase from last week and a significant improvement over the 17-19% average seen over the past year. The survey also indicates 67% of 2024 Conservative voters would back the party again, while it has attracted 13% of former Liberal Democrat supporters.
Labour Slips to 26%
Labour dropped one point to 26%, though this remains well above the 19% low recorded last summer before Prime Minister Andy Burnham took office.
Reform UK Remains Third
Nigel Farage’s Reform UK held at 21%, up one point from last week but still its lowest since the election, marking a third consecutive week in third place. The Liberal Democrats and Greens were unchanged at 11% and 10% respectively.
Badenoch Challenges Election Denial
The results bolster opposition leader Kemi Badenoch, who last week suggested the recent Budget was election-focused. While Burnham has repeatedly ruled out a general election within 12 months, Badenoch told Good Morning Britain she does not believe him, arguing the government is preparing for an earlier vote and criticizing Burnham’s focus on elections over governance.
