Bulgarian authorities confirmed bomb threats against two Ryanair flights from Dublin and Bergamo bound for Sofia, part of a wave of seven threats across Europe on Tuesday, all later declared false alarms.

Details of Threats

The threats targeted flights operated by Ryanair, LOT Polish Airlines, and SAS, with destinations including Warsaw, Murcia, Rome, and Sofia. All flights were diverted or inspected, and no explosives were found.

The first threat involved a LOT Polish Airlines flight from London Heathrow to Warsaw, diverted to Warsaw Modlin. Subsequent threats hit SAS Copenhagen-Warsaw, Ryanair Manchester-Murcia, Ryanair Lisbon-Rome, Ryanair Dublin-Rome, Ryanair Lisbon-Sofia, and Ryanair Dublin-Sofia.

Authorities in each country conducted security checks; all threats were confirmed as hoaxes by late afternoon. Aviation security agencies continue to monitor for further incidents.
