Hungarian PM Expresses Nostalgia Over Serbian Protests

By Salma El-Sakka

Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar has expressed emotional investment in the recent political shifts in Serbia, following a student-led movement that successfully ousted Aleksandar Vučić.

Political Parallels Drawn by Magyar

Magyar, who assumed power earlier this year after removing Viktor Orbán, shared his reactions regarding the celebrations unfolding in Serbia. In a series of posts, he drew parallels between his own rise to power and the current political developments in Belgrade.

Describing his feelings as nostalgic, the Hungarian leader remarked on the symbolism of the current events. He noted that the political momentum, which he colloquially referred to as the 'Budapest Express,' appeared to reach Belgrade ahead of its scheduled arrival on the physical tracks.
