Savannah Guthrie Renews Plea for Help in Mother's Kidnapping

By Basant El-Faramawy

TODAY show co-host Savannah Guthrie on Sunday renewed her public appeal for information about the kidnapping of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, who was taken from her Tucson, Arizona home nine months ago.

Kidnapping details and investigation

Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on February 1. Authorities said the crime involved a ransom demand. The Pima County Sheriff's Department, with FBI assistance, has not made any significant breaks in the case. A hair found in the home did not lead to a suspect after testing in July.

Ongoing efforts and family appeal

A task force continues to chase leads and recently traveled to Florida to consult with lab scientists on advancing the investigation. Guthrie posted an Instagram message featuring a drawing by her young daughter that read, "I know it might not seem like it but I really need my mommy." She named immediate family members and said the reward for information remains available. "We are begging you," Guthrie wrote. "Please help us."
