The United States warned Russia of a possible terrorist attack in Moscow, with Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) stating it received the information through established partner channels and was taking appropriate measures.

Embassy Alert and Museum Evacuation

The U.S. Embassy in Moscow said it was aware of a credible threat of a mass casualty event on Saturday at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve, a palace museum and park complex south of the capital. The embassy added that the U.S. government was coordinating with Russian authorities.

Russian state news agency RIA reported that the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve was temporarily closed on Saturday and access to the park restricted, citing law enforcement agencies. Russian tabloid Baza said the venue was evacuated toward the end of an organ concert, which was cut short, and a separate concert dedicated to North Caucasus folk traditions was subsequently canceled.

Previous Warning and Attack

In March 2024, the U.S. Embassy warned that extremists had imminent plans for an attack in Moscow. Days later, gunmen attacked the Crocus City Hall concert venue outside Moscow, killing more than 140 people.
