TV presenter Maya Jama has been praised as a “true winner” after announcing she would match the prize money she would have won on Celebrity Traitors with a donation to her chosen charity, Action for Children.
Finale outcome
The BBC show’s celebrity edition concluded on Friday night with comedians Romesh Ranganathan and actor Sebastian Croft emerging as the final faithful contestants. They split the £83,000 prize pot, donating their shares to the Refugee Council and Choose Love respectively.
Jama’s gesture
Jama, 32, reached the final roundtable as a traitor but was banished before the endgame. On Saturday she posted on X that she had donated the amount she would have received to Action for Children, an organisation that supports vulnerable children.
Public response
Fans described the move as “class” and “generous”, commending both her gameplay and her choice of charity. The series attracted a peak audience of 15 million viewers for the BBC.
