Brentford Beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 as Glasner's Side Struggle

By Salma El-Sakka

Brentford secured a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the Gtech Stadium on Saturday, extending the visitors' winless run and leaving Oliver Glasner's side in the Premier League relegation zone.

Own goal and Thiago strike decide contest

The hosts took the lead on the half-hour mark when Dango Ouattara's cross deflected off Nikola Milenkovic and looped over goalkeeper Matz Sels for an own goal. Brentford doubled their advantage in the second half when substitute Jaidon Anthony crossed for Igor Thiago to slot home, with the ball again taking a decisive deflection off Milenkovic.

Forest dominate possession but lack cutting edge

Despite registering 12 shots to Brentford's six, Nottingham Forest managed only two efforts on target and have now scored just six league goals all season. Liam Delap, Murillo, Morgan Gibbs-White and James McAtee all missed clear chances before the break, while substitute Ryan Yates headed over from close range after the interval.

Brentford end winless streak on historic night

The victory ended Brentford's four-match winless run in what was the 100th Premier League fixture at the Gtech Stadium. Igor Thiago's goal was his second of the campaign, while Mathias Jensen had earlier struck the crossbar from a free-kick.
