South Africa secured a famous 2-1 Test series victory over Australia with a 176-run win in the third Test at Cape Town on Saturday, as off-spinner Simon Harmer claimed six wickets for 16 runs to bowl out the tourists for 111 in their fourth-innings chase of 288.

Harmer's historic haul

The 37-year-old Harmer finished with match figures of 10-120, his first ten-wicket haul in Test cricket, as South Africa turned a tightly contested match decisively in their favor on a deteriorating fifth-day pitch.

Rabada reaches milestone

Fast bowler Kagiso Rabada provided strong support with 3-39, reaching the landmark of 350 Test wickets as Australia collapsed to 60-7 by lunch and were dismissed before tea.

Series background

The series marked the first meeting between the two nations in South Africa since the 2018 Sandpapergate scandal. Australia won the opening Test in Durban by 214 runs before South Africa leveled with an innings-and-31-run victory in Gqeberha.

Captains react

Harmer said the win was about handling expectations and praised Rabada's morning spell. Australia captain Pat Cummins acknowledged the need for improvement after back-to-back heavy defeats, stating the team would review its style and personnel.
