US Secretary of State Marco Rubio planned to host his foreign minister counterparts from the Group of 20 at a college football game between the University of Florida and the University of Georgia in Atlanta on Saturday, following a meeting of top diplomats from the world's wealthiest nations.
Diplomatic Gathering at Sporting Event
The game, traditionally held in Jacksonville, Florida, was moved to Atlanta due to stadium renovations. The matchup, known as the "World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party" for its large and boisterous crowds, features Georgia ranked No. 3 nationally and favored over No. 17 Florida.
Rubio's son, Anthony, plays for the Florida team. U.S. officials said numerous foreign ministers had expressed interest in attending the game with Rubio.
