By Fatma Younis

Chelsea defeated Manchester United 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, extending United's winless run to nine games and intensifying scrutiny on manager Michael Carrick.

First half dominance but missed chances

United started brightly with Bruno Fernandes restored as captain, but failed to convert opportunities, including a volley over by Fernandes and a missed chance by Amad Diallo after a slip by Wesley Fofana.

Rogers breakthrough and Martinez red card

Morgan Rogers scored a brilliant individual goal early in the second half. Minutes later, Lisandro Martinez conceded a penalty and received a second yellow card for a challenge on Rogers. Cole Palmer converted the penalty to make it 2-0.

Carrick's future in doubt

The defeat marks United's third consecutive loss. The club is reportedly considering replacements such as Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann. Carrick applauded the traveling fans after the match, receiving a mixed reaction.

Chelsea's perspective

Rogers, named player of the match, said Chelsea deserved the win after a difficult week. Manager Xabi Alonso's side also had a goal disallowed for offside.
