Reports indicate that at least four actors have undergone screen tests for the role of James Bond, with three names publicly identified while the fourth remains unconfirmed.
Named Contenders
Industry outlets Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter have named Jack Lowden, Callum Turner, and Josh O’Connor as actors who reportedly participated in screen tests held last weekend.
Possible Fourth Actor Candidates
Speculation has centered on several British actors. Jack O’Connell, star of "Sinners," has been suggested as a potential candidate, though earlier reports indicated he was not in the mix. Jack Barton, a 31-year-old known for "Heartstopper," "Poor Things," and the BBC series "SAS: Rogue Heroes" — written by new Bond screenwriter Steven Knight — has also been mentioned. Joe Alwyn, whose early career was shaped by Bond casting director Nina Gold, has been floated by online observers.
Actors Ruled Out
Jacob Elordi was reported by The Hollywood Reporter as not testing for the role. Harris Dickinson, previously considered a strong contender, has reportedly withdrawn, citing exhaustion from filming four consecutive Beatles movies in which he portrays John Lennon. Nicholas Hoult has also been ruled out by the same publication.
New Bond Film Details
The upcoming Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, following Daniel Craig’s final appearance in "No Time to Die" (2021). Amazon acquired MGM Studios, the franchise’s longtime backer, in January 2025, assuming control of the series.
