Gervais recalls Extras cameo

Ricky Gervais paid tribute by sharing a blooper reel from Stewart's 2005 guest appearance on the sitcom Extras. The episode earned Stewart a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor. Gervais wrote that he "ruined every take" laughing during a scene where Stewart delivered lines about a fictional script involving mind control. The scene required about 45 takes, and Stewart later recalled in his memoir that Gervais could not stop laughing, especially at the word "knickers."
