Michael Douglas Gives Rare Update on Jack Nicholson

By Islam El-Sakka

Michael Douglas has offered a rare glimpse into the life of his longtime friend Jack Nicholson, revealing that the 89-year-old screen legend is living quietly and in good health.

Douglas Shares Personal Update

Speaking at an event in Swansea while promoting his new memoir, Douglas said he still sees Nicholson, who has largely retreated from public life. He noted that Nicholson is no longer working but is well, spending time at his home and "walking around in his slippers." Douglas added that Nicholson deserves this peaceful phase and that he understands it, being a few years younger himself.

Nicholson's Low Profile

Nicholson has not appeared on screen since 2010's "How Do You Know" and has rarely been photographed. In April, his daughter Lorraine shared a rare photo showing him smiling with family and singer Joni Mitchell. Fellow actor Carol Kane recently confirmed she stays in touch with Nicholson, describing him as still being "Jack."

Career Highlights and Douglas's Memoir

Nicholson, a three-time Oscar winner, starred in classics such as "Chinatown," "Batman," and "As Good as It Gets." Douglas, 82, won an Oscar for producing "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," which earned Nicholson his first Best Actor award. Douglas's memoir "One Helluva Ride" also covers his marriage to Catherine Zeta-Jones and past relationships with co-stars Kathleen Turner and Jeanne Tripplehorn.
