A man armed with a knife threatened migrants attempting to cross the English Channel in a small boat from France to the UK on Friday, 30 October.
Footage shows confrontation in Hardelot
Video from Hardelot, France, shows the man wading through waist-deep water toward the boat while holding a knife. A person on board attempted to fend him off by striking him with a boot. As the man drew back his arm, he appeared to drop the knife into the sea.
Crossings resume after weather pause
The incident occurred as Channel crossing attempts resumed following a three-week pause caused by strong winds and high swells. On Thursday, 29 October, 263 migrants arrived in the UK.
