Lauren Bennett Inquest Rules Suicide for Party Rock Anthem Singer

By Karim Hammam

English singer Lauren Bennett, who featured on LMFAO’s 2011 hit “Party Rock Anthem,” died by suicide, an inquest has concluded.

Inquest findings

Bennett, 36, was found near her home in Meopham, Kent, on May 29 after telling her husband, Kenny Wormald, she was going for a walk. When she did not return, Wormald and her father located her in nearby woodland using a phone-tracking feature. The hearing at Kent and Medway Coroners’ Court in Maidstone heard that Bennett had suffered a mental health crisis in January 2026 and faced an “ongoing struggle” since. Assistant coroner Jyoti Gill noted she was under specialist mental health care, had been sectioned in January, and continued to report distress over medication effects. Gill recorded a conclusion of suicide by hanging. Family members, including Bennett’s brother, step-brother, and sister-in-law, attended the hearing.

Background and career

Bennett first rose to fame with the Paradiso Girls, whose 2009 single “Patron Tequila” charted internationally. She later joined G.R.L. in 2013, a group formed by Robin Antin. The band disbanded after the death of member Simone Battle but reunited in 2016 and 2020. The inquest heard Bennett toured the US twice, met Wormald there, and the couple opened a dance studio in Los Angeles before moving back to the UK with their daughter.

Personal circumstances

Statements in court indicated Bennett was diagnosed with Fragile X syndrome before the family’s return to the UK. Her father, Richard Bennett, described her life as “amazing,” noting she signed a record deal at 17 and moved to the US alone.
