Arizona Woman Fights Off Attacker Hired by Fiancé, Police Say

By Salma El-Sakka

Arizona woman Bella Torres fought off a stranger who broke into her home and attempted to sexually assault her on October 16, only to learn that police believe her fiancé, Zarian Dyer, had arranged the attack.

Attack and Confrontation

Adrian Ayala, 20, of Goodyear, allegedly entered Torres' home minutes after Dyer left for groceries. Her two young children were inside. Ayala reportedly asked to use the bathroom before forcing his way in, choking Torres and attempting to remove her clothing. Torres initially thought it was a random attack and challenged Ayala to identify her fiancé. Surveillance footage shows Torres fighting back, striking Ayala and demanding his identity.

Investigation Reveals Plot

Buckeye Police Department investigators uncovered messages on Ayala's cellphone indicating he and Dyer had discussed and planned the assault beforehand. Ayala told police he had reached an agreement with Dyer to sexually assault Torres, describing it as a 'role-play scenario.'

Arrests and Charges

Ayala was arrested the day after the attack and faces five charges, including kidnapping, sexual abuse, burglary, and aggravated assault. He was released on a $25,000 secured appearance bond. Dyer was arrested days later on charges including aggravated assault, sexual abuse, attempted sexual assault, kidnapping, and conspiracy. He is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond.

Motive Unknown

Police have not established a motive for the alleged coordinated attack. The investigation continues.
