Hippos at the San Antonio Zoo celebrated Halloween early as keepers treated them to pumpkins during feeding time. A hippo named Timothy demonstrated the species' immense jaw power, crushing the winter squash with a satisfying thump.
Hippos possess the strongest bite of any mammal, capable of generating up to 2,000 pounds per square inch of pressure and opening their mouths up to five feet wide. Despite being herbivores, they are considered one of Africa’s deadliest animals.
