Liverpool Manager Iraola: Too Early for Title Talk Ahead of Arsenal Test

By Karim Hammam

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has insisted it is too early to consider his side genuine Premier League title contenders, even with a victory over champions Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday. The Reds have won four consecutive matches and advanced past Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, marking their best run under the Spanish coach.

Iraola Urges Caution Despite Strong Form

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher suggested the team could become Arsenal's closest challengers given Manchester City's uncertain start, a narrative that would gain momentum with a win that would leave Liverpool three points behind Mikel Arteta's side. Iraola, however, dismissed the speculation. "It's good if the fans have expectations and think we can win. But if you ask me, it is still very early in the season," he said. He added that the first proper reference point usually comes halfway through the campaign after each team has faced the other once.

Szoboszlai and Munoz Could Return

Liverpool may be strengthened by the potential return of midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai and Victor Munoz. Szoboszlai, who scored a stunning free-kick in last season's 1-0 win over Arsenal, made a brief 31-minute comeback from injury against Brentford two weeks ago. "We still have two days. I think they have a chance, yes," Iraola said regarding their availability for the Arsenal clash.
