Arteta Confirms Arsenal Trio Trained Ahead of Liverpool Clash

By Islam El-Sakka

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Riccardo Calafiori, Declan Rice and Christos Tzolis have all trained ahead of the team's Premier League trip to Liverpool on Sunday.

Injury updates on key players

The trio missed Tuesday's Carabao Cup defeat at Fleetwood Town due to fitness issues. Rice sustained a problem during the win over Everton last week and was substituted in the 79th minute, while Calafiori appeared in discomfort and limped off late in that match. Arteta said all three trained on Friday and will train again on Saturday, adding that they will be available if they come through the session without issues.

Madueke, Saka and Dowman situations

Noni Madueke is dealing with an ankle injury but has not been ruled out, with Arteta stating a decision will be made after Saturday's training. Bukayo Saka remains sidelined for the next few weeks with a thigh injury and requires another scan to assess the fluid in the muscle. Max Dowman is serving a three-match ban following his sending off at Fleetwood, with Arsenal's appeal against the red card having been rejected.

Title implications

Arsenal travel to Anfield for Sunday's late kick-off and could return to the top of the table if they better Manchester City's result this weekend. The Gunners have not won at Anfield in the Premier League since 2012, when Arteta was a player under Arsène Wenger.
