England Under-15s in World Cup controversy after uncontested penalty

England’s Under-15 team secured a 3-2 victory over Bolivia at the FIFA Under-15 World Cup in Azerbaijan on Friday after a late penalty that the Bolivian goalkeeper made no attempt to save. The uncontested spot-kick sparked angry confrontations between Bolivian players, the referee, and their English opponents before both sides left the pitch.

Uncontested penalty decides match

The decisive penalty came in the dying moments of the fixture, establishing the final scoreline. Bolivia’s goalkeeper stood still as the shot was taken, prompting protests from his teammates. The Football Association has been approached for comment, while FIFA will await the match delegate’s report before deciding on any further action.

Earlier walk-off over racism allegation

The incident follows Monday’s abandoned match against the Republic of Ireland, when England players walked off the field following an alleged racist comment. Coach Matt Thorpe was seen beckoning his players toward the touchline, saying “It’s not happening.” The game was stopped with Ireland leading 4-1. FIFA has referred the matter to its independent disciplinary committee, and the FA has offered full support to the player involved.

The tournament features 189 countries playing eight-a-side matches over two 20-minute halves.
