A letter sent to the Metropolitan Police containing various claims regarding Thomas Markle, the estranged father of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, was written by his first wife, Roslyn Loveless, according to reports. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a letter concerning Markle was received in 2019 and was subsequently shared with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at that time.

Allegations and Investigations

The allegations involve claims that images of child sexual abuse, purportedly belonging to the 82-year-old Markle, were discovered at his former residence in the Philippines. While Markle, who is currently based in the US, has denied all such allegations, officials in the Philippines have confirmed that the anti-human trafficking and child sexual exploitation task force is investigating the matter.

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, confirmed she had been previously informed of these disturbing allegations. In a statement, she expressed deep distress and noted her thoughts were with any children who may have been harmed. She also clarified that the situation explains why she has largely severed contact with her father and has prevented him from having any contact with her children.

Family Reactions and Legal Context

Meghan's half-brother, Samantha Markle, claimed to have found a stash of images and videos belonging to his father at the former Philippine home. He expressed regret for previously siding with his father, stating he had been protecting the wrong person. It is understood that he contacted the FBI regarding the images in July, and the agency has confirmed it is aware of the allegations.

Markle previously acknowledged in an interview that he had paid for sex during past visits to the Philippines, but he denied ever sleeping with underage girls or possessing child abuse material. The Metropolitan Police stated that they did not pass the contents of the 2019 letter to other law enforcement agencies and are currently reviewing how the matter was handled.
