BBC Sport's Fantasy Premier League expert FPL Heisenberg has outlined his key recommendations for managers heading into gameweek nine, with a focus on Bournemouth's promising home fixture against Leeds and a favorable run of upcoming matches.
Bournemouth Assets
He identifies Marcus Tavernier (£6.4m) as his preferred midfield pick, citing recent performances that combine goal threat and creativity. Evanilson (£6.2m) is suggested as a budget forward option who could benefit from scoring opportunities, while defender Antonio Silva (£5.0m) is favored for defensive contributions. However, he advises against triple captaining Bournemouth players.
Nicolas Jackson's Form
Nicolas Jackson (£6.7m) emerges as an attractive budget forward after scoring four goals in his last four Premier League matches for Aston Villa. With a home fixture against Fulham kicking off a favorable schedule, he is worth considering despite a slight rotation risk due to Champions League commitments and the return of Brian Madjo (£5.4m) from injury.
Haaland Remains Top Captaincy Choice
Erling Haaland (£15.7m) retains his status as the standout captaincy option despite Manchester City's first league defeat of the season. He scored against Aston Villa in gameweek eight and remains the most reliable premium asset, though managers need not captain him every week.
Joao Pedro Injury Decision
Joao Pedro (£7.8m) is deemed an easy sell after Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso ruled him out for weeks. Holding the injured forward is risky given the uncertainty of his return, and alternative mid-priced forwards such as Jackson, Evanilson, Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£6.1m), Thierno Barry (£5.6m), and Alexander Isak (£9.1m) offer better immediate value.
Rayan Cherki Minutes Concern
Rayan Cherki (£8.0m) is likely to be sold due to inconsistent playing time, including a half-time substitution against Aston Villa. At his price, managers expect 80-90 minutes regularly, and cheaper alternatives like Tavernier provide more reliable minutes while freeing funds.
Arsenal Assets Ahead of Liverpool Clash
Despite a difficult away fixture at Liverpool, Arsenal defensive assets David Raya (£6.2m) and Riccardo Calafiori (£6.0m) are worth holding given the team's quality and a mixed but manageable subsequent run against Hull, Newcastle, Manchester City, and Brentford. However, new Arsenal signings are not prioritized this week as other teams offer more attractive short-term fixtures.
