Premier League Predictions: Sutton vs Actor John Hannah and AI

By Fatma Younis

BBC Sport football expert Chris Sutton released his Premier League predictions for week eight on 29 October 2026, joined by actor John Hannah and an artificial intelligence model.

Hannah, known for roles in Four Weddings and a Funeral, Sliding Doors and The Mummy, stars in the upcoming action thriller Bad Day At The Office, which opens in UK and Irish cinemas on 30 October. A lifelong Arsenal fan since moving to London from Scotland over 40 years ago, he recounted his youth football ambitions and a later ACL injury that ended his playing days.

The weekly series pits Sutton against AI predictions generated via Microsoft Copilot, BBC Sport readers, and a guest. A correct result earns 10 points; an exact score earns 40.

Key match predictions

For the marquee fixture at Anfield on 1 November, Sutton forecasts a 1-0 Liverpool victory over Arsenal, while Hannah predicts a 2-0 Arsenal win and the AI leans 2-1 to Arsenal. At Stamford Bridge on 31 October, both Sutton and Hannah see Chelsea beating Manchester United 3-1, with the AI predicting 2-1. Sutton, Hannah and the AI all agree on a 3-1 home win for Manchester City against Brighton. For Tottenham versus Crystal Palace, Sutton and the AI expect a 2-0 Spurs win, but Hannah tips a 1-0 Palace upset.

Previous round results

In week seven, Sutton accumulated 110 points with five correct results and two exact scores, ahead of the collective BBC readers on 100 points and the guest pair averaging 50. The AI led with 140 points after five correct results and three exact scores. The most popular exact prediction among 28,000 entries was Arsenal's 2-0 win over Everton, correctly chosen by more than 11,500 participants.
