Actor and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has issued a first-of-its-kind apology to Kazakhstan for his satirical film Borat, marking the first time he has directly addressed the Central Asian nation's long-standing objections to the 2006 mockumentary.
The apology comes after years of criticism from Kazakh officials who argued the film portrayed their country in a deliberately offensive and inaccurate manner, reinforcing negative stereotypes on a global stage.
