Bryan Adams Releases Song Criticizing Trump's Lake Ontario Renaming

Canadian pop star Bryan Adams has released a new song titled "Lake Ontario" that criticizes President Donald Trump's executive order renaming the lake "Lake America." The track appears as a bonus track on Adams' new album and marks his second song targeting Trump this year.

Lyrics Target Trump's Policies and Epstein Ties

The lyrics state, "It's a first nations name, not an executive order," and mock Trump's decision as a "low blow" and a "dog and pony show." Adams also alludes to Trump's connections to Jeffrey Epstein, suggesting the renaming serves as a distraction while "the Epstein files were getting traction." The president has not been charged with a crime and has denied any wrongdoing.

Strained U.S.-Canada Relations

The song arrives amid deteriorating relations between the two countries. Trump signed the executive order two months ago, and both Google Maps and Apple Maps have since included "Lake America" for U.S. users. The president has imposed steep tariffs on Canada and repeatedly threatened to make it the "51st state." Prime Minister Mark Carney likened the tariffs to an act of war, and a recent Ledger poll found 41 percent of Canadians now view the U.S. as an "enemy." Ipsos surveys show 64 percent of Americans oppose Canada becoming part of the U.S., and 57 percent oppose additional levies.

Adams, 66, was raised in Kingston, Ontario, and has sold more than 75 million records worldwide.
