Hannah Waddingham will campaign for the lead actress in a comedy series category at the 2026-2027 Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards, shifting from the supporting actress category where she earned three nominations and a win for her role as Rebecca Welton on Apple TV+'s Ted Lasso.
Previous nominations and historic company
Waddingham, 52, won the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2021 and received two additional nominations in that category. If nominated for lead actress, she would join actors such as Allison Janney for The West Wing and Jon Cryer for Two and a Half Men who have been nominated in both supporting and lead categories for the same series.
Co-stars remain in established categories
Juno Temple, who plays Keeley Jones, will continue campaigning as a supporting actress, while Jason Sudeikis will again be submitted in the lead actor category for his portrayal of Ted Lasso.
Other roles and a reality show decline
Beyond Ted Lasso, Waddingham has appeared in Netflix's Sex Education and starred opposite Octavia Spencer in the Amazon Prime series Ride or Die, which was canceled after one season. She recently revealed on The Jennifer Hudson Show that she declined an invitation to join the first UK season of Celebrity Traitors, saying she prefers to watch the show rather than participate.
