Sunderland remained at the bottom of the Premier League table following a goalless draw against Leeds at the Stadium of Light. The stalemate ended the Wearsiders' four-game losing streak, though they failed to move up from the bottom of the standings.

First Half Action

The match began with a scrappy first half where Sunderland's Brian Brobbey, returning from injury, missed two significant opportunities to give the home side the lead. Both attempts were thwarted by Leeds goalkeeper James Trafford, who made a low save on a shot toward the bottom left corner and later blocked a second attempt following a defensive error by Leeds.

Second Half Developments

The second half was marked by a strange incident when Sunderland's Nordi Mukiele had to be substituted for Omar Alderete after being caught around the throat by teammate Luke O’Nien. Following the substitution, Leeds applied pressure through players like Brenden Aaronson and Anton Stach, but Sunderland's defense managed to scramble clear several dangerous deliveries.

Late Pressure and Results

Sunderland's Nilson Angulo enjoyed several chances to break the deadlock, with his fierce efforts denied by Trafford's diving saves. Leeds also threatened through Ao Tanaka, whose shot was stopped by Robin Roefs. In the final minutes, Sean Longstaff saw a strike blocked by defenders. The draw leaves Sunderland in last place, while Leeds remains in seventh position in the league table.
