Miranda Hart Returns to TV After Decade-Long Lyme Disease Battle

By Islam El-Sakka

British actress and comedian Miranda Hart has spoken about her return to television on the BBC series Celebrity Traitors after a decade-long battle with Lyme disease that often left her housebound.

Health Struggle and Emotional Comeback

Hart, 53, revealed on ITV’s This Morning that her body was “a bit shocked” by the demands of filming after months when she could not leave her home or get out of bed. She described the experience as “very emotional,” particularly when fellow contestant Joe Lycett was banished from the show. The condition, a bacterial infection spread by ticks, causes fatigue and is difficult to diagnose. Hart documented her illness in her 2024 memoir, I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You.

Fan Calls for Sitcom Revival

Since her television return, fans have urged Hart to revive her hit self-titled sitcom, which ran from 2009 to 2015. She acknowledged the enthusiasm but said any revival has never come from her directly, adding: “Your guess is as good as mine at this point whether we do more.”
