Celebrity Traitors Star Explains TV Ban in Contestants' Rooms

By Basant El-Faramawy

Coronation Street actor Julie Hesmondhalgh has disclosed the reason behind a strict rule banning televisions from contestants' hotel rooms on the BBC reality series Celebrity Traitors.

TV Ban Prevents Identifying Traitors

Hesmondhalgh, who was banished earlier in the series, told Good Housekeeping magazine that producers prohibited TVs because contestants could deduce who stayed up latest. The Traitors are summoned back to the castle after the Faithful have gone to bed to film additional scenes, so monitoring bedtimes could reveal their identities.

Spotify Also Prohibited

The production also blocked access to Spotify, as the app's messaging feature could allow covert communication between contestants.

Catering Praised

Hesmondhalgh said she spent downtime reading and praised the show's catering team for accommodating various dietary needs, noting that she and comedian Romesh Ranganathan were the only vegans initially.

Upcoming Twist Teased

A source told The Sun that Thursday's semi-final will feature a "sensational turn of events" unprecedented in the show's history, setting up Friday's finale.
