Jacksepticeye expands into voice acting and film production

By Karim Hammam

YouTuber Seán McLoughlin, known to 31 million subscribers as Jacksepticeye, is moving beyond gameplay videos into voice acting and film production. Since starting his channel in 2012 during what many call YouTube's "golden age," McLoughlin has taken roles in the 2025 superhero game Dispatch and now appears as an elusive target in IO Interactive's Hitman.

Hitman role and Dispatch cameo

In Hitman, McLoughlin portrays controversial influencer Finn Colton, also known as Finnvictus. Although the character shares his likeness and voice, McLoughlin says the "manosphere-adjacent influencer" is not based on him. Players must interact with the character, including finding creative ways to eliminate him. Earlier this year, he had a brief cameo in IO's James Bond game 007: First Light, which many streamers missed.

Bloodborne animated film

McLoughlin was also announced as a producer on an animated movie adaptation of Bloodborne, the acclaimed PlayStation 4 title. Some fans questioned his credentials, but he cited his deep fandom, including a Hunter's Mark tattoo, and described his role as a "vibe-checker" to ensure the adaptation captures the game's atmosphere. He aims to hire people who have played Bloodborne and understand its essence.

Physical games and AI concerns

McLoughlin lamented the industry's shift toward digital-only releases, noting the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 will not launch on disc. He also opposes the use of generative AI in game development, referencing Epic Games' recent pivot toward AI tools. That stance makes a Jacksepticeye Fortnite skin "definitely, definitely unlikely."

Internet culture and Thankmas

McLoughlin observed a "rise of anti-communities" where people condemn games and films before release, making online discourse angrier and less nuanced. He links this to broader real-world frustrations. In December, his annual Thankmas fundraiser returns after a hiatus to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which he calls a "nice little pinprick of light." He also said he is trying to offer fewer opinions on every topic.
