Man Utd's Sesko Out Until January With Shin Injury

By Fatma Younis

Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko will be sidelined until at least January due to a persistent shin injury, manager Michael Carrick confirmed on Thursday.

Extended Absence

The 23-year-old Slovenian has not played since the Carabao Cup exit to Brighton on 16 September and missed the entire pre‑season with a similar issue. Carrick said the medical team, consulting specialists, has prescribed an extended rest period rather than surgery, ruling Sesko out until the new year.

Attacking Setback

Sesko has scored two goals this season, including a Premier League strike off the bench against Everton and a Champions League goal against Sabah. His absence compounds United’s attacking problems after a 3‑0 home defeat to Bournemouth last weekend.

Other Injury Updates

Kobbie Mainoo, Patrick Dorgu and Luke Shaw are also in the treatment room, though all are expected to return in November. Carrick noted Mainoo participated in partial team training on Wednesday, a positive sign.

Manager Under Pressure

Carrick faced crisis talks with club hierarchy on Monday following the Bournemouth loss but survived to take charge for Saturday’s trip to Chelsea. The injury news adds to the challenges ahead of a potentially decisive match for his future.
