Double world darts champion Luke Littler will take on 24 challengers in a one-off Netflix special titled “Beat Luke Littler” streaming on Friday night, with a £501,000 prize for anyone who can defeat him in a single leg of 501.
Familiar faces among the line-up
The field includes former World Championship semi-finalist Fallon Sherrock, World Darts Federation number one Mitchell Lawrie, former PDC player Mark Pooke and rising youngster Jaden Walker. Thousands of amateurs auditioned, with an Australian jockey, a German teacher and a Nando’s restaurant manager among those selected.
Littler acknowledges the challenge
Littler told the Press Association he knows about half of the competitors and expects the toughest opponents, such as Sherrock and Lawrie, to appear near the end of the running order. “They could have the leg of their life,” he said. “I’ve got to be prepared for everyone. Anything can happen, and I’ll be feeling a bit nervous.”
The £501,000 prize is the second-highest single payout in darts, behind the £1 million World Championship winner’s cheque. Littler must win 24 consecutive legs to prevent an amateur from claiming the money, and the competition stops immediately if he loses a leg.
