Bradley Walsh's New £1m Game Show Sparks Hoax Debate

By Karim Hammam

Bradley Walsh will host a new Channel 4 game show titled Million Pound Shot, premiering on Sunday 1 November, in which contestants use their own money to compete for a £1 million prize. The format has drawn intense online speculation, with some viewers questioning whether the programme is an elaborate hoax.

Show Format and Host Comments

Contestants will bring their own bank cards and wager cash based on their confidence in answering general knowledge questions. They can win Bet Balls carrying monetary value and then decide whether to take the money or risk firing the balls into the Million Pound Shot Machine for a chance at the seven-figure jackpot. Walsh, 66, described the show as "unlike anything we've seen on British TV before" and said it tests "confidence and bravado" because players must put "your money where your mouth is" with their own cash.

Online Speculation and Hoax Comparisons

Social media users have debated the show's authenticity after Channel 4 promised a "huge secret twist" and "a night of drama" with unexpected curveballs. On the British TV subreddit, one user suggested the programme could be a hoax similar to the BBC's infamous Ghostwatch broadcast, writing that "everything about it feels like it isn't a real TV show."

Broadcast Details

Million Pound Shot airs on Channel 4 on Sunday at 9pm.
