Daisy May Cooper has spoken for the first time about withdrawing from the first series of BBC's Celebrity Traitors, revealing that poor living conditions and limited family contact led her and her brother Charlie to quit before filming began.
Hotel conditions and family separation
Cooper said she and her brother were originally set to compete but panicked after learning they would stay in a substandard hotel and would not be allowed to share a room. She also cited the inability to speak regularly with her children for two weeks as a deciding factor. Cooper shares two children with her ex-husband and a two-year-old son with partner Anthony Huggins.
"It just sounded like a f***ing nightmare," she said. "I thought, 'F*** it. It's not enough money.'"
First series proceeded without them
The first series aired with contestants including Jonathan Ross, Nick Mohammed, Paloma Faith, Joe Wilkinson, and Sir Stephen Fry. Comedian Alan Carr won the competition. The second series is currently broadcasting on BBC One with participants such as James Acaster, Maya Jama, James Blunt, and Michael Sheen.
Return to Last One Laughing
Cooper has since returned for the Halloween special of Last One Laughing UK on Amazon Prime Video, describing it as her favorite job. The series features comedians Jack Dee, Phil Wang, Reece Shearsmith, Harriet Dyer, Tom Allen, and Lou Sanders, with cameos from David Mitchell, Catherine Tate, and Steve Pemberton. The first three episodes are now streaming.
