Television host Chris Hansen has issued an open invitation to actor Robert Pattinson to discuss the latter’s portrayal of him in the A24 thriller “Primetime.” Hansen, 67, best known for the reality series “To Catch a Predator,” made the offer during an episode of his podcast, “Have a Seat with Chris Hansen.”
Open Invitation Extended
Hansen said he realized both he and Pattinson have been fielding questions about each other and suggested they sit down together. “Robert, come have a seat, anytime,” Hansen said, adding he would travel to London where Pattinson is reportedly filming a Batman movie.
Previous Criticism of the Film
Hansen has previously described “Primetime” as “a completely made up work of fiction” and said he was not consulted during its production. He told The Hollywood Reporter the use of his name and likeness appeared “sneaky and disingenuous,” arguing the trailer contains nothing that actually happened in real life.
Focus Remains on Real Work
Despite his objections, Hansen said he is not “obsessed” with the movie and remains focused on conducting pedophile stings. “I’ve got work to do,” he said. “It’s a full-time job being the real Chris Hansen.”
“To Catch a Predator” was cancelled in 2008 after a 56-year-old assistant district attorney died by suicide following a sting operation, with crew members capturing the event on camera. The Independent has reached out to Pattinson for comment.
