The documentary 'You Can See Everything' is challenging the top spot at the box office, performing exceptionally well alongside the new horror film 'Clayface.' While the DC Universe horror movie secured the number one position during its debut weekend with $24 million from 3,458 North American theaters, the Elizabeth Holmes documentary followed closely behind.
Documentary Success and Box Office Performance
Directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, the documentary about the disgraced Theranos founder earned an impressive $19.5 million during its second weekend. After expanding its release to 2,655 venues, the film has now reached a domestic total of $45 million. This wide release by A24 marks a significant achievement for a documentary, which has received overwhelmingly positive reviews and potential Oscar buzz.
'You Can See Everything' has become the highest-grossing non-musical documentary since Michael Moore's 'Fahrenheit 9/11' in 2004. The film explores the period leading up to Holmes' surrender to a federal prison in Texas, where she is serving an 11-year sentence for fraud and conspiracy related to her biotech company's blood-testing technology.
Other Weekend Box Office Results
The weekend rankings also featured 'Wildwood,' a stop-motion animated film that debuted with $11 million. In third place, the romantic fantasy 'Wicker,' starring Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgard, collected $6 million. Meanwhile, the science fiction adaptation 'Klara and the Sun,' featuring Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams, saw a more modest opening with $725,000 from 880 theaters.
