Brewers Beat Rays 4-1 to Win First World Series Title

By Islam El-Sakka

The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5 on Wednesday night to capture the first World Series championship in franchise history. The small-market Brewers, playing in the majors' smallest market, clinched the title before thousands of their fans at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Misiorowski Shines in Start

Young ace Jacob Misiorowski threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits before leaving the game because of a right calf cramp. He received a standing ovation from the Brewers supporters who had taken over the section behind the dugout for the final three games of the series.

Pratt Sets Rookie Record

Rookie Cooper Pratt, 22, delivered two hits and two RBIs. He set a World Series rookie record with six consecutive hits before a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.

Chourio Makes History

Jackson Chourio established a five-game Series record with 11 hits, further powering Milwaukee's offense throughout the championship round.

First Title in 58 Seasons

The championship arrives in the franchise's 58th season. The club began as the Seattle Pilots in 1969 and moved to Milwaukee the following year. The Brewers' only previous World Series appearance, in 1982, ended in a Game 7 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals after blowing a 3-1 lead.
