The Carabao Cup quarter-final draw will take place on Wednesday evening following the conclusion of the fourth-round ties, with League Two side Fleetwood Town and League One outfit Bradford City joining six Premier League clubs in the last eight.
Lower-League Sides Cause Major Upsets
Fleetwood Town produced one of the competition's greatest shocks by eliminating Arsenal on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Highbury. The fourth-tier club becomes the first from League Two to reach the quarter-finals since Colchester United in 2019-20. Bradford City secured their place with a victory over fellow third-tier side Peterborough United on Tuesday.
Premier League Heavyweights Advance
Defending champions Manchester City progressed after a penalty shootout win over Brighton & Hove Albion following a 2-2 draw. Bournemouth thrashed Aston Villa 3-0, while Crystal Palace edged Fulham 1-0. Sunderland came from behind to beat Brentford 3-2 at the Stadium of Light. Liverpool and Chelsea remained deadlocked at 1-1 at Anfield as the draw approached.
Draw Schedule and Broadcast
The quarter-final draw is expected to begin around 10:15 PM GMT and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports. Six Premier League teams — Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, and Sunderland — will be in the hat alongside Bradford City and Fleetwood Town.
Arsenal to Appeal Dowman Red Card
Arsenal intend to appeal the red card shown to 16-year-old Max Dowman, who was dismissed for kicking out at Harrison Neal in the 85th minute against Fleetwood. Manager Mikel Arteta spoke to the teenager as he left the pitch, and the club must submit paperwork to the Football Association before Thursday's 1 PM deadline. Captain Martin Odegaard called on the team to "step up" after the humiliating exit.
