Jamie Dornan has spoken about the pressure of taking on the role of Aragorn in the upcoming film "The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum," following Viggo Mortensen's iconic portrayal in Peter Jackson's trilogy.
Returning Cast and Creative Team
Several actors from the earlier films will reprise their roles, including Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins, and Lee Pace as Thranduil. The film will be directed by Andy Serkis, who played Gollum in the original trilogy, with a screenplay by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Phoebe Gittins, and Arty Papageorgiou.
Dornan's Approach to the Role
In an interview with Italian publication L'Officiel, Dornan acknowledged the weight of expectation, saying, "There's pressure when you're trying to follow in those footsteps. I've been asked to play a super-iconic role, and I'll do my best." He added that he has no intention of trying to outdo Mortensen, whose performance he considers one of his all-time favorites.
Film Setting and Release Date
Set between "The Hobbit" trilogy and "The Fellowship of the Ring," the story follows Aragorn as he tracks down Gollum before the creature can reveal the location of the One Ring to Sauron. The film is scheduled for release on December 17, 2027.
