Dolores Huerta, the labor leader and civil rights activist who co-founded the United Farm Workers and coined the rallying cry “Sí, se puede!,” died of cancer Wednesday at her home in California. She was 96.

Lifetime of advocacy

Huerta spent decades organizing farmworkers and advocating for labor rights, inspiring generations of activists and public servants. Her work alongside Cesar Chavez helped secure collective bargaining rights for agricultural workers in the United States.

Enduring legacy

The Associated Press curated a photo gallery highlighting her lifelong commitment to social justice, capturing moments from strikes, marches, and legislative victories that defined the farmworker movement.
