NASA has announced the four astronauts who will fly on the Artemis III mission, the next crewed flight to the lunar surface under the agency's moon program. The crew was revealed ahead of a meeting with former President Donald Trump, who met with the astronauts to discuss the upcoming mission.
Artemis III crew selected
The four astronauts will be the first humans to land on the moon since the Apollo 17 mission in 1972. Artemis III aims to return astronauts to the lunar surface, including the first woman and first person of color to walk on the moon. NASA has not yet released the names of the selected crew members in this announcement.
Trump meets with astronauts
Former President Trump met with the newly named Artemis III crew to discuss the mission and the future of U.S. space exploration. The meeting underscores the political significance of the Artemis program, which aims to establish a sustainable human presence on the moon as a stepping stone for future missions to Mars.
