The UK budget has paved the way for London Mayor Sadiq Khan to extend the capital's Bakerloo Underground line, handing him the authority to advance the long-proposed project.
Transport expansion moves forward
The funding settlement enables the mayor's office to proceed with planning and development for the southern extension of the Bakerloo line, which would run from Elephant and Castle to Lewisham and potentially beyond.
