Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has welcomed a £10 billion support package from the United Kingdom, announced in Wednesday's Budget, praising Prime Minister Andy Burnham for the commitment.
Details of the Aid Package
Chancellor of the Exchequer John Healey announced the package, comprising £7 billion in economic support over three years, £3 billion in export finance capacity, and £500 million in urgent military funding for winter air defense gaps.
Zelensky's Response
Zelensky said the support comes at a critical time as Russia escalates its invasion, thanking Britain, Burnham, and global supporters for standing with Ukraine.
UK Government Statement
Burnham called it the largest financial package ever committed to Ukraine by the UK, underscoring the government's commitment to Ukraine's fight against Russia's illegal invasion.
Ukraine's Financial Outlook
Despite the aid, Ukraine faces a projected £58 billion shortfall in 2027, even with £37 billion in planned support. Norway has pledged £7 billion for 2027, and hopes remain for Canadian contributions.
