Russian President Vladimir Putin told African leaders on Thursday that Russia stands as their partner against what he described as a "colonial" West, during a meeting with heads of state from across the continent.
Putin's remarks came as he hosted the African delegation, positioning Moscow as an alternative to Western influence in Africa. The Russian leader criticized Western nations for what he called their historical colonial policies and current pressure on sovereign states.
