House Speaker Mike Johnson, a prominent defender of former President Donald Trump during the January 6 Capitol attack, labeled concerns about a peaceful transfer of power "absurd" and "silly" when questioned about whether Republicans would accept election results.
Johnson appeared annoyed by the line of questioning, rejecting suggestions that his party would not honor a peaceful transition. His remarks come amid ongoing scrutiny over Republican commitments to democratic norms following the 2020 election and the events of January 6.
