A Department of Government Efficiency operative linked to former President Donald Trump fired thousands of USAID employees and effectively dismantled the agency, despite USAID having no record of his employment and questions about his authority to make such changes, according to a new report.
The report, published by The Independent, states that the individual — described as a "DOGE bro" — may not have had the legal authority to implement the sweeping personnel cuts and operational shutdowns attributed to him.
USAID officials reportedly found no personnel records for the operative, raising concerns about the legitimacy of the actions taken under the banner of the Trump administration's government efficiency initiative.
