US Judge Rules Candace Owens Cannot Be Personally Sued in Macron Defamation Case

By Karim Hammam

A US judge has ruled that conservative commentator Candace Owens cannot be personally sued in a defamation case brought by Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron.

Split Ruling in Defamation Lawsuit

The decision represents a partial setback for the Macrons in their legal battle against Owens, who has promoted a conspiracy theory claiming Brigitte Macron was born male. While the judge dismissed the claims against Owens individually, the lawsuit may proceed against other parties.

The case stems from Owens' promotion of a French far-right magazine's investigation that alleged Brigitte Macron's identity was fabricated. The theory has circulated in fringe circles for years but gained renewed attention through Owens' platform.
