Ryanair has reminded passengers that from Tuesday, 10 November, bag drop services at all its airports will close 60 minutes before scheduled departure, up from the current 40-minute cutoff.
Bag drop changes
The change affects the estimated 20% of Ryanair passengers who check in luggage. The airline said the earlier closure will give those travelers more time to clear security and passport control queues, especially during busy periods.
Ryanair's chief marketing officer Dara Brady stated the adjustment aims to reduce the small number of passengers who miss flights due to airport delays. The remaining 80% of passengers who travel with only carry-on bags are unaffected and can proceed directly to security after online check-in.
Airfare forecast
The policy was originally announced in April. Separately, Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary recently warned that European airfares could rise by up to 20% in 2027, citing higher jet fuel costs driven by the Iran war and the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
